Mini Sessions vs Full Sessions
Let's Get Right To It
When it comes to capturing precious moments, deciding between a mini and a full photo session can be a bit of a challenge. Both options offer unique benefits, catering to different needs and preferences. Let’s dive into the key differences to help you make an informed decision.
Time and Felxibility
- Mini Sessions: These are designed for efficiency, lasting just 25 minutes. They are scheduled on a specific date at a location chosen by the photographer. This format is perfect for quick updates, such as seasonal cards or welcoming a new addition to the family.
- Full Sessions: Offering more flexibility, full sessions are 45 minutes. For Fall I am offering some predetermined locations. But if you want to set up a full session at your preferred date, start time, and at location of your choice reach out to dan@pixiaphotography.com and we can make it happen. It can be a location that holds personal significance, whether it’s your cozy home, a favorite park or beach. The locations picked for fall have been used many times in the past and proven to work well for family sessions.
Pacing and Experience
- Mini Sessions: With a fast-paced and highly directed approach, mini sessions are ideal for keeping energetic children engaged. However, they might be challenging for those who need time to warm up to the camera.
- Full Sessions: These sessions provide a little more relaxed and leisurely atmosphere, allowing for an outfit change, candid play, and unprompted moments. This setting is generally more comfortable for shy children, offering a chance to capture genuine expressions. Don’t worry energetic kids can also handle this session, we keep them and move around during the session.
Deliverables and Cost
- Mini Sessions: With a lower investment, mini sessions result in a smaller curated gallery, typically consisting of around 25 digital images. This option is great for those seeking a quick and affordable way to document special occasions.
- Full Sessions: While they come with a higher cost, full sessions deliver a larger gallery of over 40 images. This includes a variety of shots with detailed editing and storytelling elements, perfect for capturing milestones or creating more of a narrative.
Final questions
When considering these options for your upcoming sessions, here are a few final questions to help guide your decision:
- Who will be photographed? Just immediate family or will it include extended family?
- What is the occasion (holiday card, milestone, family portraits for printing and framing, or just because)?
- Do you have any outfit or location preferences?
- How much time do you want to spend? Some extra time can unlock more special moments, or go for effeciency with the short and sweet option.
- Do you want all the images from your session or just a selection of images?
